Industry News: Updates to Australian Adventure Activity Standards & Outdoor Recreation Training Packages

Updates to the Australian Adventure Activity Standards (AAAS)

The AAAS Core Standard document, contains information relating to all activity standards; such as risk management, equipment, environment and planning; is currently going through final market testing.

Public Consultation on the first two Activity Standards, Bushwalking and Camping closed 29 May 2017. The nomination process has been completed to form the Technical Working Group (TWG) for Horse Trail Riding, Mountain Biking and Bike Touring and Abseiling and Climbing. These three TWG's have now started work.


Outdoor Recreation Training Package Review

SkillsIQ, under the direction of the Sport, Fitness and Recreation Industry Reference Committee (IRC), has prepared a 'Case for Change' detailing changes required to Outdoor Recreation training package products, within the Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training Package, to ensure they remain reflective of contemporary industry skills needs.

Following approval from the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC), this training package development work will now commence. Central to the success of this review work will be the ongoing engagement of industry.
